This tutorial assumes you completed the previous one here: Creating an Avie.

Setting a Universal Thumbnail

Create a universal thumbnail that you can use for all your publishing and exports such as embedding a gif in an email, open graph meta in personalized landing pages etc.

You set a single thumbnail for all your personalization variations. You do not need to set a separate thumbnail for each personalized video.

1. Click on Set Thumbnail

Click on Set Thumbnail

2. Set Static Image Thumbnail will already be selected.

You can either use a static image thumbnail or an animated thumbnail. A static image thumbnail only requires you to select one timestamp with the slider at the bottom.

3. Click on Set Thumbnail.

Wait for a while to see the actual thumbnail update on the right side of the modal.

Click on Set Thumbnail.

4. To set an animated GIF thumbnail, click on Set Animated GIF Thumbnails.

An animated GIF thumbnail is better for email embeds as it signals to the opening user that this is a video. In an email embed, a YouTube like play button is overlaid on the gif as well.

To set an animated thumbnail you have to choose two timestamps.
